APPROACH:

A customized development program for current KLJ leaders that can be replicated for future cohorts. We will increase developmental impact and retention by leveraging spaced repetition to allow participants to put new skills into practice before coming back to share results and focus on the next competency.

We utilize validated assessments to measure leadership competencies and progress. Between sessions, participants will use specific exercises to help them understand concepts, give them real-world practice, and begin to transfer what they learned to their direct reports. Each session will end with a specific action plan, and the following session will start with presentations of the results of those plans.

COURSE DETAIL:

Superior Leadership

We will kick off the development with a comprehensive, competency based leadership assessment. Participants will identify their strengths and prioritize opportunities for development. Everything taught throughout the year will tie back to this assessment. We’ll customize the assessment based on the competencies your leadership team needs to develop.
There are certain competencies that enable the best leaders to succeed where others fail. The key to leadership isn’t that all leaders display these competencies the same way; the key is gaining the awareness of personal strengths and weaknesses that enable the best leaders to utilize these competencies in the most effective way for them.
  • A solid understanding of their personal leadership report including their natural strengths and opportunities with respect to critical leadership competencies.
  • A specific plan for their development over the next year with prioritized areas of focus.
  • A game-changing planning methodology to achieve short and long-term goals.
  • Specific strategies to overcome resistance and rapidly lead your team through change.
  • A plan to develop the mission-critical relationships you need to drive results.
  • A proven process for problem-solving that leverages the talents of each team member.
  • 6 delegation techniques you’ll use to maximize your results and develop your team.
  • The means to develop unshakable team accountability beginning with a critical paradigm shift.
  • 8 essential tools for influence and impact across the organization.
  • A personal action plan and follow up coaching to accelerate progress.

Leading with Emotional Intelligence

Research shows that Emotional Intelligence is the single best predictor of success and impacts nearly everything we do, including decision making, problem-solving, and the quality of relationships. Teams with high EQ make fewer mistakes, are more profitable, solve problems faster, enjoy higher productivity, and maintain higher morale than lower EQ teams.
  • Building strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Increased self-awareness in 5 key areas.
  • Utilize tools including enhanced listening and empathy to gain insight into others emotions and motivations.
  • Understand the emotional aspects of decision making.
  • Regulate their emotions to stay motivated and energized.
  • Bounce back from adversity and manage change with resilience.
  • Receive criticism positively for continued growth.
  • An understanding of how to change self-defeating behaviors and moods.
  • 8 ways to escape an emotional hijack.
  • The #1 tool to improve negotiations, conflict resolution, and collaboration.
  • A powerful strategy to increase focus, minimize procrastination, and make unbiased decisions.
  • Strategies to identify and manage triggers so they don’t manage you.
  • The ability to utilize emotional contagion to drive team results.

Maximum Influence

Influence is a critical leadership competency. Whether you’re driving change, getting buy-in for an idea, or facilitating a meeting, the ability to influence is essential. Over two days, leaders will learn and practice the art of influence.
Three critical pieces come together to make this a career-changing two days: content, practice, and coaching. First, the content was developed by professional speakers with decades of experience which brings a level of nuance that makes a significant difference. Second, participants get three opportunities to practice and get feedback over the two days. Third, each person gets a personal coaching session with Dr. Heather Johnson to review the recordings of the practice sessions and get additional help meeting their specific goals.
Maximum Influence will transform you from a speaker to an influencer.
  • A visible change in their ability to influence by the end of the second day.
  • Evidence-based tools to increase your influence when presenting, facilitating meetings, and interpersonally.
  • A proven methodology to clearly structure your ideas for preparation and cut your preparation time by 75%.
  • 4 effective strategies to harness your stress and confidently influence any audience.
  • The ability to demonstrate the 10 characteristics that separate speaking from influencing.

  • The answer to the #1 question that enables you to adapt to any audience.
  • A process to increase the return on investment for meetings.

Communicating with Style

“The cost of poor communication has hit an overwhelming $37 billion”

The Holmes Report, Global PR Industry
Effective communicators advance faster, earn the respect of others, and get more done because of their ability to express themselves in a way others understand. The ability to adapt your communication style to match another person’s is one of the most powerful ways to improve all of your communications.
Using a communication assessment as a framework, our focus will be to understand the 4 primary communication styles, identify each participant’s personal style, and learn how to effectively adapt to improve communication in any setting.

The Power of Influence in Sales

Recently Heather discussed influence as a key to doubling sales on the ‘Double Your Sales Now’ podcast. Listen below:
“This is the only leadership course that is so good I would want to take again. This course gives several good tips and provides insights that are specific to the participant. Other courses give you one or two good tips (rarely specific to your style) but fail to inspire bigger change.” Telecommunications Director

“Overall, your influence course was one of the most impactful seminars I have ever attended in my 13 year career in the wireless industry. The value was tremendous. It gives you the necessary tools and ‘real-world’ experience on how to present and ultimately influence an audience. This course was more relevant than others I’ve attended and it taught/coached very specific techniques for success. Other courses are more general and lack content that has real and immediate impact. All managers, and employees of leaders they are developing to next level, should go though Maximum Influence.”
